Will It Launch ?
|
Space shuttle Discovery could set off as early as July 13. Will it be safe enough for its crew? Of course, NASA is taking all sorts of precautions to make sure their next shuttle flight doesn't go wrong. You have to keep in mind though, that the fleet is 20 years old!
Of course, I believe that pursuing space travel is very important. I also believe that NASA should stop trying to fix the old fleet and invest in a new one. Even if that leaves us with a decade or so with no shuttle flights. Still, I can't wait to see how the flight goes in July!

A decade? A decade without any advancement in space science? That's like what Microsoft did with the computer industry during the 80's. Investing in a new fleet would be the best. But keep in mind that it takes many billions and many hours to design a space shuttle. The current space shuttle was designed during the 70's, but the first lunch was in 1981 (I think). If I have to choose between the risk of the current space shuttle and waiting, I'd take the risk. |
