Live 8 is Coming
|
"Every single day 30,000 children die because they live in extreme poverty." As it says on the Live 8 website, we must act now and change history. On July 6, the G8 leaders will meet at a summit in Scotland. These men have the power to make poverty history. Live 8 doesn't want your money, they want your help. Read more to learn about this great event!
Some of you might remember the Live Aid concerts in July 1985. Live Aid called on people to donate money to help those who suffered from famine in Africa. Over $100 million was raised, but that's not nearly enough to help all of those in need.
It is obvious that enough money could never be raised in a charity event. That is why we have to convince our goverments to act, they have the power to end the suffering. That is why Live 8 is not Live Aid 2. This time, the concert event is asking for your voice, not your money.
This event is also exciting because of all the music artists who have already agreed to participate for the event on July 2. To see if your favorite artist has signed on, you can view the list here by clicking on the venues. I know U2 will be there .
