Discovery: Ready or Not?
[NASA] Space shuttle Discovery could be ready for launch in just 15 days. If NASA decides to go ahead with the launch, it will happen between July 13 and July 31. After that, no one knows how long it will take until another space flight is scheduled. Reports are saying that NASA officials think they are ready for the launch while the review panel instored after the Columbia crash doesn't.

I surely hope NASA doesn't go ahead with the flight if there is even a shadow of a doubt that something could go wrong. There is no need to rush just to prove everything is back to normal. Still, I'll be very happy if Discovery takes flight in two weeks with no glitches.

Headlines in 2056
Ever wondered what the headlines will be in the year 2056? Well, The Onion has and the result is quite amusing. Althought, I surely hope most web pages will be faster than this one by that year! I am most happy that some sites will now be available in Asciinglish and Revised-Standard Klingon amongst other languages. Also, it appears construction on the fifth World Trade Center has begun.wink

There are quite a few funny articles to read on that page. What are your hopes for the year 2056? I, for one, hope for a seat at those Lunar Olympics if it is not too expensive!

Admission.com is changing!
[Admission]Thank you to Alex for pointing me out that Admission has adopted the Ticketmaster layout. It's about time!!! For those of you who don't know, the province of Quebec was about the only place in the world not affiliated with Ticketmaster for buying tickets, we had to deal with Admission.

Well, we still have to deal with Admission, but they now seem to be hosted on Ticketmaster servers, unless it's just the layout they have adopted. Admission has never been able to deal with the traffic related to big events or even relatively big events (the big events are just single concerts!). Every Saturday (when most tickets go on sale), the website would just crash or say "the maximum number of users has been reached" for hours at a time. Not even the fastest internet connection would have helped you get tickets, just luck. Hopefully, better days are ahead for everyone who has been frustrated with Admission in the past.

Geek Jewelry and Accessories
I just found out, via Gizmodo, a store that sells some very nice jewelry and accessories made from various electronic components. You can go through Fractal Spin's catalog and buy yourself (or your significant other) a very nice item. All the jewelry I tried to make during my electronics labs with resistors and wires didn't look as good as those! There you have it, you can be a geek and wear fashionable jewelry.

There is no global warming!
[Bush monkey] At least, this is what President Bush believes. The United States, as powerful as they are, have the possibility to change things. But it sure won't happen during the Bush administration, because Bush says that science still can't prove that gas or other combustors are the cause of global warming. The thing is, science is very capable of proving all these facts...

Firefox Gaining Market Share
According to Techworld, the Firefox browser has reached 8 percent of the market share up from 7.38 percent back in April. Altough this is good news, I'm still surprised that so many people are using the outdated Internet Explorer browser (87.23 percent market share).

IE doesn't even have tabbed browsing built in! You can download the latest MSN Search Toolbar to get tabbed browsing, but seriously, how many toolbars are needed to make IE acceptable tongue. Of course, IE7 will have tabs, but Microsoft are so behind on the technology. I really have no idea how the browser can catch up now, IE hasn't had a major feature upgrade in over three years.

IE users, take Firefox for a test drive, you might like it (and it's free wink)!

The Simpsons...The Movie!
[The Simpsons] According to this article, The Simpsons movie is currently in preproduction. It will most likely be more than two years before we see this on the big screen though. It has always been rumored that a movie would follow when the series ends. I hope it doesn't mean the end for the Simpsons family on TV... so few good TV shows left!

Dealing With Apple on Intel
[Intel] Are you unsure how to deal with the recent announcement that Apple computers will soon run on Intel Chips? Already feeling nostalgic about your PowerPC? According to The Joy of Tech, there are five stages of dealing with Intel Macs.

You can view the comic strip illustrating those stages on their website. Presently, I think I'm still in the "anger stage". I love my PowerBook G4 and was looking forward to a PowerBook G5 on a PowerPC chip. It sure won't happen now! What stage are you in?

Inside a Tornado
[Tornado] Using a probe with seven cameras to obtain a full 360-degree view, a team of storm chasers managed to film a tornado from up close on the ground. Six of the cameras each had a 60-degree side view and one camera faced up.

This makes me think of the movie Twister. I've always wanted to see a tornado up close. You can see the video on National Geographic's website. Don't worry, no one got hurt during the process!

Coolest Case Mod Ever
This Star Wars TIE Fighter case mod just won a science fiction case mod contest. I wish I could have it for my next computer. It also serves as a desk and lights up in the dark. The only downside... this guy installed Windows on his computer.
